Abstract
Current research in computationalmodelin internationalrelations/computationalinternationalrelations (ComInt) haveshown the use of big dataas the tool, topic, and variablefor diplomacy. However, research on artificialintelligence(AI)’s rolein foreign policy decisionmaking (FPDM) is still rareand under-developed particularly among universities in Indonesia. Research onAI’s rolein FPDMat theregionallevel, in particular ASEAN, is stillrareand under-developed. Thus, this researchwillcomplement thecurrent research by designing acomputationalmodel ofFPDM for ASEAN negotiation on security issues. By doing so, this study engages with an emerging trend ofFourth IndustrialRevolution. This researchwill beconducted in three phases: data gathering, datastoring, and data mining. In thefirst phase, datais gathered to fulfillthe measurementsconstructed to predict outcomes of particular security issues occurring inASEAN. In thesecond phase, oncealltheappropriate data is gathered, it would bestored and classified into arich set offeatures (feature-selection)as datacomes frommany formsand characteristics. Finally, in thethird phase, acomputationalmodelwill beconstructed to interpret dataand provideinferences to users, assisted by external partnersas digital developerexperts.
