Abstract
While the use of LMS (learning management system) in higher education is nothing new, BinusMaya substantiates a uniques use of LMS in university since it embodies the strategic pedagogy approach of Binus University, which is MCL (Multi-channel Learning). MCL has been more than a decade implemented and integrated into Binus Maya and an evaluation of its effectiveness seems to be urgently required before new change brought about by a so-called future learning takes effect. Future learning is a notion of new learning preferences typically embraced by milenials or post-milenials generation. It is mainly characterized by a preference for personalized learning, mobility (network learning) and informal learning. These new learning characteristics coincide with the demands of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) which will change the employability skill sets profoundly. Higher education needs to respond strategically to these new requirements of new learning and new employability. In addition to evaluating the current practices of MCL, this research will identify characteristics of future learning preferred by typical students of Binus University, which can be used to set the standards of LMS capable for addressing the challenges of future learning and IR 4.0. A mixedmode method will be used to establish the effectiveness of the current practices and to identify the characteristics of future learning preferences. The results of the BinusMaya evaluation and the characterization of the future learning preferences will be useful in adapting BinusMaya to enable the implementation of the strategic pedagogy approach at university level such as personalized learning, mobility and offline-online learning convergence.
