The Cross-Cultural Communication Approach: A Perspective of Traditional Music of Indonesian and American Children

Abstract
Musicisconsidered capable ofstimulating various sensesand assisting children in learning and improving languageskills. Musicalso develops listening, reading,and writing skills, improving speech fluency,and communication. Thefocus ofthis research is to study theinfluence ofmusicin the learning process in schoolchildren aged 5-10 years. Afundamentalcontribution is to thecreation ofa moreeffectiveand efficient learning process throughmusic. Theage of 5-10 years isan important period in the process ofmental development ofachild. Therefore, it is very important to support thelearning process ofchildren through interesting and student-centered learningmedia. Stimulus thatcan stimulatechildren to learn optimally is needed in thelearning process. Theresearchmethod used is qualitative with constructiveapproach through observation and interview. The intended informantsareschoolstudentsaged 5-10 yearsas wellas severalaccompanying teachers in theschool. Theresults ofthis research are expected to provideinput for parents, schoolsand stakeholders such as the Ministry ofEducation in designing acurriculumthat iscentered on students throughmusicintegrated in thelearning process.
