Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to explore the readiness of local stakeholders toward sustainable tourism development. For this major purpose, both quantitative and qualitative will apply in this study. Accordingly, this study will employ qualitative research with the application of qualitative software NVivo 11 Plus for managing and analyzing non-numeric data such as video interviews available in YouTube, in-depth interviews with key stakeholders at the Ministerial, provincial, and district governments level. Purposive sampling technique will be applied to select the key informants on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criterions in selecting the key informants. The inclusion criterion include the key informants who actively participate in the tourism industries in Western Manggarai and Manggarai districts. For the purpose of analyzing qualitative data gathered from the triangulation of data collection techniques, thematic and cross-case analyses will be applied to present the major findings of this study. In addition to the qualitative study, an empirical survey will be conducted in this study to explain the local stakeholders perceptions and experiences on sustainable tourism practices in the tourism destination areas such as in the National Park of Komodo.
