Title

A Comparative Study: Social Construction And Acceptance of the Perverse In The Well of Loneliness (1928) And Laurence Anyways (2012)

Abstract
Gender and sexuality have been addressed as the branches of the third wave feminism, or the possible fourth wave, where equality is applied to anyone at any aspects possible. The issues have existed for good period of time as reflected in literary works across the years, decades, even centuries. This research looked at two literary objects that span almost a century difference: Radclyffe Hall's novel The Well of Loneliness (1928) and Xavier Dolan's film Lawrence Anyways (2012). Qualitative approach is used in the goals of finding (1) the definition of the perverse and the normal and (2) the social construction and acceptance towards those terminologies within their main characters. This research aims to find differences and shifts in the depiction of reception by the society towards gender and sexual identities in the early 20th century and the early 21st century.
