Prof. Bens Pardamean Receives 32nd Sarwono Award for Contributions to Technology and Bioinformatics

On August 23, 2024, Prof. Bens Pardamean, Ph.D., a distinguished Professor in Computer Science and the Head of the Bioinformatics & Data Science Research Center and the BINUS AI R&D Center at BINUS University, was honored with the prestigious Sarwono Award by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). This lifetime achievement award recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to science and technology, with research that has had a significant impact on society, particularly through Intellectual Property and collaborations with various partners.

The Sarwono Award, named in honor of Prof. Dr. Sarwono Prawirohardjo, the first Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), serves as a tribute to his dedication to advancing scientific knowledge in Indonesia. Prof. Bens Pardamean is the 32nd Indonesian scientist to receive this esteemed award, which was presented by BRIN’s Head, Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, M.Sc., at the Sumitro Djojohadikusumo Auditorium, B.J. Habibie Building, Central Jakarta.

Prof. Bens Pardamean’s fifteen years of dedication to the field of informatics have culminated in this recognition. His leadership at the Bioinformatics and Data Science Research Center (BDSRC) and the NVIDIA Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center (AIRDC) at BINUS University has been instrumental in driving innovative research. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, M.Si., Vice Rector of Research and Technology Transfer at BINUS University, these centers have flourished, demonstrating the significant impact of strong academic leadership on advancing scientific and technological research in Indonesia.
