Driving Innovation: Bioinformatics, Data Science, and AI Research Centers at BINUS University

At BINUS University Anggrek Campus, Prof. Bens Pardamean, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., oversees two pivotal research centers: the Bioinformatics & Data Science Research Center (BDSRC) and the Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center (AIRDC). BDSRC is dedicated to harnessing the power of information technology to derive insights from biological sciences data. Through the development and refinement of databases, computational methods, statistical algorithms, and theory, BDSRC tackles practical challenges in data management and analysis within the realm of biological sciences. Furthermore, BDSRC extends its scope to data science, leveraging IT tools to extract meaning from data and construct actionable predictive models, thus fostering advancements in both bioinformatics and data science domains. 

Conversely, AIRDC focuses its efforts on propelling the research and development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Indonesia. With a mission to accelerate AI innovation, AIRDC facilitates collaboration between academia and industry players. Central to its approach is the utilization of cutting-edge AI techniques, particularly deep learning, to tackle a diverse array of complex problems. Moreover, AIRDC plays a vital role in disseminating AI knowledge across Indonesia through workshops conducted in partnership with the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute. These workshops provide hands-on training opportunities for students, academics, and industry professionals, empowering them to address real-world challenges using deep learning methodologies. 

Together, BDSRC and AIRDC serve as hubs of innovation at BINUS University Anggrek Campus, each contributing uniquely to the advancement of scientific knowledge and technological capabilities. Under the leadership of Prof. Bens Pardamean, these research centers drive interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, positioning themselves as instrumental entities in the pursuit of excellence in bioinformatics, data science, and artificial intelligence research and development.
