University Governance and Management: Best Practice from Binus University
On December 4, 2023, Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, M.Si. shared insights about BINUS University during a guest lecture at the International Islamic University Indonesia (UIII) titled “University Governance and Management: Best Practices from Universitas Bina Nusantara” within the course on Educational Leadership and Management. This special lecture was tailored for doctoral students specializing in Education at the Faculty of Education within UIII, comprising students from three countries: Indonesia, Afghanistan, and Mexico. Prof. Abraham was invited by Dr. Tati Lathipatud Durriyah, Ph.D., Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education.
During this session, Prof. Abraham covered various topics, including the history and achievements of BINUS University, the rationale and drive behind the motto “Fostering and Empowering Nusantara,” the motto “People – Innovation – Excellence,” BINUS’s Vision 2035 aligned with Indonesia’s Vision 2045 and the Demographic Bonus, BINUS’s adherence to Innovation and Impossibility, the SODA system (Centralized Operations, Decentralized Academics), the significance of being “World Class” for BINUS, cultivating an “IT Culture,” the unique aspects of leadership in higher education institutions, the responsibilities BINUS shoulders as a role model, the vision regarding Technology and Entrepreneurship, BINUSIAN values, and the importance of a large university behaving akin to a small enterprise, emphasizing the significance of being a content and fulfilled member of the BINUSIAN community.
It is hoped that through such engagements, a closer collaboration will flourish between BINUS University and the Indonesian International Islamic University.
