On May 23, 2025, Research and Technology Transfer BINUS University hosted a Morning Tea Talk Show entitled From Earth to Algorithm: A Beginner’s Guide to Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI). Held at the Research Innovation Lab (Room 700, 7th Floor, BINUS Anggrek Campus), the session aimed to introduce foundational concepts and practical applications of GeoAI to a multidisciplinary academic audience.
The event featured two distinguished speakers: Dr. Ir. Alexander Agung Santoso Gunawan, S.Si., M.T., M.Sc., PCAP, who currently leads the Research Interest Group (RIG) on Artificial Intelligence in Geospatial Economics (Geo-Eco AI), and Dr. Edy Irwansyah, S.T., M.Si., a recognized expert in GeoAI. Both speakers emphasized the integration of geospatial data with machine learning techniques to support decision-making processes in economic, environmental, and urban planning domains.
Designed as an accessible introduction to an emerging field, the session provided participants with insights into how spatial data can be transformed through AI algorithms to yield actionable intelligence. The discussion underscored the growing relevance of GeoAI in both academic research and real-world problem-solving, reflecting BINUS University’s ongoing commitment to interdisciplinary innovation.
