Strengthening Academic Collaboration Between BINUS University and Cyprus
On November 1, 2024, a meeting was held at BINUS Anggrek Campus with the Ambassador of Cyprus to Indonesia, Nikos Panayiotou, accompanied by Dr. Marinos Voukis from the Cyprus University of Technology. BINUS University was represented by Dr. Hendy Risdianto Wijaya, Technology Transfer Specialist; Dr. Rini Setiowati, S.E., M.B.A., Vice Rector for Collaboration and Global Engagement; and Satrio Nugroho, Program & Collaboration Section Head. The discussion aimed to explore opportunities for academic collaboration, including student exchange programs and joint research initiatives.
The dialogue highlighted the potential for partnerships with 12 universities in Cyprus, comprising three public and nine private institutions, with academic programs extending to the doctoral level. Specific efforts to promote outbound student mobility were discussed, including the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize the collaboration. Both parties expressed commitment to fostering meaningful academic relationships to benefit students and faculty members from both regions.
To commemorate the initiation of this collaboration, an Ambassador’s Charter was signed at BINUS University. This symbolic act marked the beginning of a partnership designed to enhance academic and cultural exchanges between Indonesia and Cyprus. The meeting underscored the shared vision of expanding global academic networks and creating impactful research and educational opportunities.
