Workshop on the History of Psychology in Indonesia: Exploring the Roots and Development
On October 12, 2024, the Indonesian Psychological Association (HIMPSI Pusat) held a Workshop on the History of Psychology in Indonesia in Yogyakarta. The event featured a welcoming speech by Dr. Andik Matulessy, M.Si, Psikolog, who serves as the Chairman of the Central Executive Board of HIMPSI (PP HIMPSI). The workshop aimed to explore the development and contributions of psychology in Indonesia, with insights shared by renowned speakers, including Prof. Drs. Subandi, M.A, Ph.D, Psikolog, and Dr. Agus Suwignyo, M.A.
Key participants included Dr. Andik Matulessy and Mulyanto, S.Psi, M.Psi, Psikolog, the Secretary-General of PP HIMPSI, alongside other prominent figures from the organization. The discussion was enriched by representatives from the Research, Historical Studies, and Scientific Ethics departments of HIMPSI, such as Sartana, M.A., and Ananta Yudiarso, S.Sos, M.Si. These participants collectively contributed to the workshop’s focus on advancing historical knowledge and ethical practices in the field of psychology.
Prof. Juneman Abraham, Vice Rector of Research and Technology Transfer at BINUS University, also participated in the workshop in his capacity as Ketua Bidang C PP HIMPSI, reflecting his active role in promoting academic development and fostering the integration of historical perspectives into psychological research and practice.
