Exploring Educational Research Dynamics in Indonesia Post-Reform: A Focus Group Discussion
On October 11, 2024, a Focus Group Discussion was held at the Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional to explore the book chapter titled Social Sciences and Humanities in the Life of the Nation, focusing on the dynamics of educational research in Indonesia following the Reform Era. This significant event gathered experts and thought leaders in the field of education to delve into the evolving landscape of educational research and its implications for national development.
Among the important invitees was Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, S.Psi., M.Si., C.W.P., C.I.R.R., who serves as the Vice Rector of Research and Technology Transfer at BINUS University. Prof. Juneman’s presence brought valuable insights into the discussion, given his extensive background in educational research and his role in promoting research initiatives at BINUS University. His contributions highlighted the importance of aligning educational research with national priorities, ensuring that research outputs effectively address the needs of the community and the broader educational ecosystem in Indonesia. The discussion was opened by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Najib Burhani, Head of the Organization for Social Sciences and Humanities Research at BRIN, alongside Dr. Trina Fizzanty, Head of the Center for Educational Research; Prof. Dr. Ence Oos Mukhamad Anwas, M.Si., Principal Researcher at BRIN; Dr. Aldila Rahma, M.I.L., Junior Researcher at the Center for Educational Research; Rahmatika Dewi, M.Ed., Ph.D., Junior Researcher at the same center; and Soeharto, M.Pd., Ph.D., also a Junior Researcher at the Center for Educational Research.
Participants, including prominent academics like Prof. Dr. H. Didi Suryadi, M. Ed., from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and Prof. Muhammad Zuhdi M.Ed., Ph.D., from Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah, engaged in lively discussions, sharing their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in educational research post-Reform.
