BINUS University Hosts ICEED 2026 to Advance Engineering Innovations for a Sustainable and Resilient Future


The 10th International Conference on Eco Engineering Development (ICEED) 2026 was held on 6–7 August 2026 at BINUS @Senayan FX Campus, Jakarta and broadcast live via Zoom and BINUSTV. Under the theme “Engineering Innovations for a Sustainable and Resilient Future“, the conference brought together academics, researchers, practitioners and policymakers to exchange knowledge and explore collaboration in eco engineering and sustainable infrastructure.

Opening Ceremony: A Call for Collaboration and Resilience

The Opening Ceremony began with a Prayer Recitation led by Muhammad Hafiz Aslami, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., Lecturer Specialist – S3, Civil Engineering Study Program, BINUS University, followed by a vibrant Opening Performance welcoming all participants, keynote speakers and guests attending both onsite and online.

Dr. Ir. Oki Setyandito, S.T., M.Eng., IPM., Chairman of ICEED 2026, delivered the Conference Report, announcing that this year’s edition received 187 submitted papers, with 137 accepted and 50 rejected, resulting in a 70% acceptance rate, reflecting the conference’s commitment to maintaining rigorous peer-review standards.

Dr. Nelly, S.Kom., M.M., Rector of BINUS University, delivered the Welcoming Remarks, emphasizing the conference’s role as a strategic platform for strengthening cross-disciplinary collaboration and generating innovations that address global challenges through research and technology.

Opening Remarks were also delivered by Prof. Dr. Khairul Munadi, S.T., M.Eng., Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), underscoring the government’s support for international academic collaboration in advancing engineering research.

The ceremony’s symbolic highlight was the Gong Ceremony, officiated by Dr. Nelly, Dr. Beny Bandanadjaja, S.T., M.T. (Director of Learning and Students Affairs, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology) and Ir. Diana Kusumastuti, M.T. (Vice Minister of Public Works, Republic of Indonesia), marking the official start of the conference.

Keynote Sessions: Global Perspectives on Sustainable Engineering

ICEED 2026 featured six distinguished keynote speakers:

  • Ir. Diana Kusumastuti, M.T. (Vice Minister of Public Works, Republic of Indonesia) spoke on the Triple Planetary Crisis (climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss) and Indonesia’s national infrastructure roadmap toward RPJMN 2025–2029 and Golden Indonesia 2045.

  • Dr. Siti Nurmaya Musa (Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya) presented “From Ports to Megacities,” on smart technology, system dynamics and EV routing for ASEAN supply chains.

  • Prof. Youngmin Kang (Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine & University of Science and Technology, South Korea) introduced “Smart-Herbalomics,” integrating AI and multi-omics technologies for sustainable herbal resource development.

  • M. Rozi Rinjayadi, S.T., M.T., M.M. (President Director Interim, PT Hakaaston) shared an industry perspective on sustainable infrastructure, highlighting local material innovation such as Buton Asphalt and ESG-based practices.

  • Assoc. Prof. Wong Wei Kitt (Curtin University, Malaysia) discussed adaptive multi-objective optimization in cryptographic design for digital security.

  • Prof. Jenshinn Lin (National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan) presented engineering innovations in sustainable food processing.

Each session was followed by an interactive Q&A, giving onsite and online participants the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers on topics ranging from AI applications to sustainable material development.

Parallel Sessions: Research Dissemination Across Disciplines

ICEED 2026 continued with hybrid Parallel Sessions, where researchers, academics, students and practitioners presented their work across a wide range of topics: engineering innovation, sustainability, materials, energy, manufacturing and AI applications for sustainable development, followed by discussion with session chairs and fellow participants.

Day 2: Faculty Insights and Stakeholder Dialogue

Day 2 opened with a presentation from Dr. Ir. Ar. Nina Nurdiani, S.T., M.T., IAI., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, BINUS University, who shared the faculty’s vision, academic achievements, research activities and international collaborations.

This was followed by an open discussion forum with external stakeholders, who offered feedback on curriculum quality, industry collaboration and graduate competencies. Among them, Prof. Youngmin Kang highlighted potential academic partnerships between BINUS University and the University of Science and Technology (UST), South Korea, particularly for Biotechnology graduates pursuing further studies.

ICEED 2026 closed its academic program by recognizing outstanding contributions across five research categories:

Closing Remarks

Dr. Ir. Ar. Nina Nurdiani, S.T., M.T., IAI. delivered the Closing Remarks, thanking all keynote speakers, participants, reviewers and committee members for their contributions. She expressed hope that the ideas and collaborations sparked at ICEED 2026 would continue to grow into broader research partnerships at both national and international levels, before officially closing the conference with a group photo session.
