Binus Journal hosted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled “Editorial Excellence and Global Reach: Preparing Journals for International Indexing” on 19 May 2025, from 14:00 to 17:00 WIB. The FGD featured Dr. Ben Murtagh, Co-Managing Editor of Indonesia and the Malay World, as the main speaker and was moderated by Dr. Ekky Imanjaya, S.S., M.Hum., M.A., Ph.D., Editor in Chief of Humaniora and faculty member of the Film Department at BINUS University.

The discussion focused on key strategies to elevate journal quality and enhance global visibility through international indexing platforms such as Scopus and DOAJ. Dr. Murtagh shared his editorial experience, highlighting the importance of clear journal scope, consistent publication ethics, strong peer review systems, and international collaboration. He also stressed the need for editorial boards to maintain high standards and actively engage in global scholarly networks.

Attended by journal editors and academic staff, the FGD served as a platform for knowledge exchange and strategic planning. Participants discussed practical steps to improve editorial workflows, strengthen journal policies, and align with global best practices. The session concluded with a shared commitment to advancing the visibility and impact of BINUS University’s scholarly publications on the international stage.
