Advancing STEM-AI Education: Empowering Innovation and Inclusion

The seminar and workshop titled Advancing Your Education in STEM-AI, held on 23 October 2024 at BINUS University Alam Sutera Campus, was organized through a collaborative effort involving PIE-GENIUS, the BINUS Graduate Program, Cardiff Metropolitan University, the British Council, and Universitas Pembangunan Jaya. This high-profile event aimed to provide participants with essential knowledge, resources, and inspiration to foster advancements in STEM and AI education, while promoting innovation and diversity in these fields. Dr. Devi Fitrianah, S.Kom., M.T.I., from the BINUS Graduate Program, led the organizing committee. Participants included Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, Vice Rector for Research and Technology Transfer, BINUS University, alongside prominent academics such as Retno Dewanti, S.Si., M.M., Ph.D., and Prof. Abba Suganda Girsang, Ph.D., both from the BINUS Graduate Program.

The event featured distinguished welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. Sani Muhamad Isa, Director of the BINUS Graduate Program, and Dr. Nelly, Rector of BINUS University, followed by an opening speech from Muhaimin Syamsuddin, Head of Education at the British Council Indonesia. Keynote presentations were delivered by leading figures, including Prof. Esyin Chew, Director of Eureka Robotics Lab at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Fitri Yuli Zulkifli from Universitas Indonesia, and Prof. Dr. Media A. Ayu from Sampoerna University. The interactive workshop was led by Dr. Sia Chow Siing and the Eureka Robotics Lab team, providing participants with hands-on experience in understanding AI fundamentals.

This prestigious event attracted key figures in academia and research, such as Prof. Benfano Soewito, Ph.D., and I Gede Putra Kusuma Negara, Ph.D., both from the BINUS Graduate Program. The event targeted women in STEM fields, educators, and leaders committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, offering valuable networking opportunities and practical insights into AI’s impact on daily life and careers. By engaging with successful female role models and participating in hands-on workshops, attendees were empowered to pursue their aspirations in STEM and AI, contributing to a more inclusive and innovative future..
