International Research Grant Proposal Strategy: Key Insights and Future Directions

On October 8, 2024, BINUS University’s Research and Technology Transfer Office (RTTO) and Binus Corporate Learning and Development (BCLND) organized a virtual meeting titled Strategi Melamar Hibah Penelitian Internasional (Strategy for Applying for International Research Grants). This event aimed to equip faculty members with effective strategies for securing international research funding. Hilda Farida, S.P., M.Sc., the Research Enrichment Section Head at RTTO, served as the moderator, guiding discussions throughout the session.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Ir. Alexander Agung Santoso Gunawan, M.T., M.Sc., a leader of the Research Interest Group (RIG) in Geo Eco AI, shared insights into navigating grant proposals with a focus on interdisciplinary research involving artificial intelligence (AI) in environmental science. He emphasized the significance of aligning research proposals with the priorities of funding agencies and the importance of robust academic collaboration. Dr. Alexander also stressed the need for adaptability and innovation in developing project frameworks that meet global challenges.

Future recommendations from the session highlighted the growing importance of continuing AI research in academia, particularly in addressing societal and environmental issues. Participants were encouraged to explore ethical AI usage, ensuring their research aligns with both technological progress and responsible practices. The event underscored the vital role of academic institutions in promoting sustainable AI development while securing competitive international grants.
