Science Communication Workshop: Transforming Research into Social Media Content

On 4 September 2024, BINUS University hosted a Science Communication Socialization event at its Anggrek Campus. The event aimed to enhance the university’s science communication efforts by guiding participants on transforming academic research into engaging social media content. Faculty members from various departments participated in the workshop to strengthen their skills in communicating scientific ideas effectively to broader audiences.

The event commenced with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, S.Psi., Vice Rector of Research and Technology Transfer, who emphasized the importance of bringing Binusian research to public platforms in a way that is accessible and impactful. He highlighted the growing need for academics to bridge the gap between rigorous scientific work and public understanding, particularly through social media channels.

Tommy Prayoga, M.Si., the Downstream Section Head, led the workshop, offering practical insights and strategies for converting research papers into content suitable for digital audiences. The participants engaged in discussions on how to simplify complex concepts, leverage multimedia tools, and use various platforms to maximize outreach and engagement. This workshop represents a vital step in BINUS University’s commitment to promoting science literacy and making its research more visible to the public.
