Effective Strategies for Patent Writing Seminar at BINUS University
On September 3, 2024, BINUS University hosted a successful hybrid seminar and interactive discussion on Effective Strategies for Patent Writing at the Anggrek Campus. Organized by the Research and Technology Transfer office of BINUS University, the event featured distinguished speakers from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) and provided a valuable platform for faculty members and graduate program participants to enhance their understanding of patent writing. The event was moderated by Elioenai Sitepu, Ph.D., Commercialization Section Head, and opened by Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, Vice Rector of Research and Technology Transfer at BINUS University.
The seminar comprised two specialized sessions. In the first session, Tips and Tricks for Patent Writing, Senior Patent Examiner Yoko Setianto, S.T., M.Si., shared practical advice on identifying intellectual works that warrant patent protection. The presentation emphasized strategies for drafting patents effectively, with a focus on the social humanities sector. This session provided participants with valuable insights on how to navigate the patenting process and maximize the protection of their intellectual property.
The second session featured group discussions led by patent examiners Ir. Cecep Sumardinata, Dwi Waskita Trisna Utama, S.T., and Muhammad Nur Ichwan Muslit, S.T., covering patent potential in various fields such as electronics, mechanics, and biotechnology. Participants had the chance to directly engage with these experts, discussing their own patent ideas in detail. Patents from BINUS faculty members, including Dr. Rinda Hedwig and Dr. Diana Lo, were also highlighted, demonstrating the university’s commitment to innovation and the commercialization of intellectual property.
