Strengthening Graduate Student Capacity: Collaborative Meeting Between BINUS University and Waseda University
On June 28, 2024, a casual meeting was held at Waseda University with Prof. Shigeru Asaba to discuss potential collaborations aimed at enhancing the capacity of graduate students at BINUS University. This meeting was attended by key representatives from BINUS University, including Prof. Dr. Tirta N. Mursitama, Ph.D., Vice Rector for Collaboration and Global Engagement, Dr. Nurlina, M.M., Research Office Senior Manager, Brilly Andro Makalew, S.Kom., M.T.I., Research and Empowerment Digital Specialist, and Dr. Syauqi Abdurrahman Abrori, International Publication Section Head.
During the meeting, the participants explored various strategies to bolster the academic and research capabilities of graduate students at BINUS University. Prof. Shigeru Asaba shared insights from Waseda University’s successful programs and initiatives, which could serve as models for BINUS University. Prof. Shigeru Asaba was the former doctoral promotor of Prof. Tirta Mursitama. The discussion highlighted the importance of creating a supportive environment for graduate students, fostering cross-institutional collaborations, and implementing innovative research methodologies.
The agenda also included exploring broader research collaboration opportunities between the two institutions. Both parties expressed a strong interest in jointly pursuing research projects that address global challenges and contribute to academic excellence. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further develop these collaborative efforts, aiming to enhance the educational experience and research output of graduate students at BINUS University.
