Strategic Collaboration between BINUS University and Waseda University

On June 24, 2024, a delegation from BINUS University, Indonesia, conducted a study visit to Waseda University, Japan. The BINUS delegation included Prof. Dr. Tirta N. Mursitama, Vice Rector of Collaboration and Global Engagement; Dr. Nurlina, Research Office Senior Manager; Brilly Andro Makalew, Research and Empowerment Digital Specialist; and Dr. Syauqi Abdurrahman Abrori, International Publication Section Head. They were warmly received by Koichi Sinoshita, Manager and Academic Student Affairs Section at Waseda University, Prof. Dr. Sathosi Inaba, Dean of the School of International Liberal Studies, and Hiroko Soneda, Study Abroad Coordinator. 

The discussions centered on strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing the capacity of BINUS faculty members and achieving the university’s goals in international research networks, attracting international students, and recruiting international faculty. Both institutions explored opportunities to strengthen their partnership through joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and collaborative programs that would benefit both universities. The exchange of ideas and strategies highlighted the mutual commitment to academic excellence and global engagement. 

Additionally, the delegation discussed Waseda University’s potential participation in the upcoming Indo-Pacific Forum. This event would provide a platform for Waseda University to engage with academic and research institutions across the region, further promoting international cooperation and dialogue. The meeting concluded with a shared vision of fostering a robust and dynamic partnership that supports the academic and research aspirations of both institutions.
