BINUS University Partake in Strategic Discussion On Renewable Energy with KADIN

On 22nd April 2024, Reseach and Technology Transfer (RTT) BINUS University joined a pivotal meeting at Kadin Tower with leaders from the Permanent Commission for New and Renewable Energy (EBT) of KADIN and the Agency for Research and Technology (BRITEK) of KADIN. During the meeting, Mr. Jaya Wahono, head of the EBT Commission, introduced innovative projects, including a closed-loop renewable energy ecosystem centered on a Waste-to-Energy Power Plant.

This initiative promises substantial savings and profitable opportunities for local governments by selling products and energy back to the government and the public. In this meeting, RTT BINUS University is represented by Hendy Risdianto Wijaya, Ph.D., Technology Transfer Specialist, and Tommy Prayoga, M.Psi., Downstreaming Section Head. Representatives from BRITEK KADIN, Mr. Ilham Habibie and Mr. Biben Akbar, expressed their eagerness to engage more academic partners in the project. Our discussions focused on various collaborative opportunities to promote sustainable and green living across more Indonesian cities and regencies.

Additionally, the EBT Commission is pushing for adopting the Waste-to-Energy Power Plant Systems (PLTSa) across Indonesia, with funding already in place and partnerships underway in 18 regions where PLN will purchase energy at favorable rates. BRITEK KADIN’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program plans to include Binus as a pilot project for PLTSa implementation. This initiative will serve as a hub for technology transfer and development, potentially establishing a specialized lab for advancing knowledge. Immediate action is encouraged to expedite Binus’s involvement in this transformative project. Join us as we lead the charge toward a sustainable future.
