Fostering Multidisciplinary Research: Enhancing Academic Excellence in Communication Science

In a bid to elevate the publication quality of faculty members within the Communication Science program, a transformative initiative named Scamping (Scopus Camping) was launched. This program convened faculty monthly, providing a platform for presenting draft publications or ongoing research, fostering discussions, and soliciting constructive feedback from peers. 

Moreover, this year marked a pivotal milestone for the Communication Science program as it welcomed two esteemed professors from Utrecht University and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. These professors conducted capacity-building workshops centered on scholarly writing and offered invaluable insights into refining faculty members’ academic drafts. 

As the capstone event of the year, December culminated in the final session of Scamping in 2023. Post the Faculty Member Meeting of BINUS 2023, the Communication Science program acknowledged the emerging queries and suggestions voiced by faculty members. Consequently, a consensus emerged, highlighting the need for enlightening and motivating faculty on the impending initiation of multidisciplinary research in 2024. 

Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, S.Psi., M.Si., the Vice Rector Research and Technology Transfer, Binus University was entrusted with delivering an elucidative discourse on the trends and strategies in multidisciplinary research specifically tailored for faculty within Communication Science. Additionally, the occasion served as a platform to honor those who attained recognition for their academic prowess. 

The event commenced under the guidance of Ezmieralda Melissa, M.A., Ph.D., the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, and was spearheaded by Dr. Amia Lutfia, M.Si., the Research Coordinator of Communication Science. Culminating the event was Maria Anggia, S.Sos., M.M., the Head of the Communication Department, bringing a sense of closure to the insightful and motivating proceedings.
