Call for Proposals and Academic Peer Reviewers: Digital Transformation in Health, Energy, and Food Security, including Blue Economy

KONEKSI is pleased to launch the Australia-Indonesia Collaborative Research Grants 2023-24: Digital Transformation Call for Proposals. The Government of Indonesia and Government of Australia have jointly agreed on the priority research theme of Digital Transformation particularly in relation to enhanced wellbeing in healthcare, sustainable food systems and blue economy, energy efficiencies and transition to renewables.

KONEKSI will support multi-disciplinary research partnerships to advance policy and practice solutions. Key to addressing digital transformation for Indonesia’s development is to encourage research that informs innovative, sustainable, efficient and equitable digital transformation.

The objectives of the Call for Proposals (CFP): Digital Transformation 2023-24 are to:

  • explore potential digital technology solutions, including the application of digital technology to improve community welfare and digital services;
  • understand the impacts of digital technology disruption, including unintended consequences on the digital divide and job displacement, and how to ensure sustainable and equitable benefits from digital transformation; and,
  • understand the local and national policies, regulations and strategies that are needed to underpin effective and fair digital transformation.

KONEKSI welcomes research proposals in three focus areas of digital transformation: healthcare, efficiencies in energy, and food security, including blue economy. The topic map identifies the priority research topics that Government of Indonesia and Government of Australia have bilaterally identified. Only topics that fall within these categories will be eligible. Close alignment with the example research focus is recommended.

KONEKSI welcomes research project applications in the following areas:

  1. Digital transformation to support enhanced wellbeing in healthcare
  2. Digital transformation to support sustainable food systems and blue economy
  3. Digital transformation to support energy efficiencies and transition to renewables

KONEKSI will support a Working Group on Digital Transformation in Health, Energy and Food Security, including Blue Economy. This thematic Working Group comprises members from relevant units of Bappenas, BRIN and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

The purpose of the Working Group is to amplify the knowledge-to-policy and knowledge-to-innovation impacts from KONEKSI-supported research. KONEKSI will facilitate dialogue and interaction between grantees and the Working Group through a variety of formats, including field visits, workshops, and meetings. Through these engagements the Working Group will help to connect research to national development priorities and support uptake in policy and downstream innovation.
