Binus University Collaborates with Universitas Imelda Medan and RSU Imelda Pekerja Indonesia to Advance Tuberculosis Detection with AI

Binus University, in a significant development, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universitas Imelda Medan and RSU Imelda Pekerja Indonesia on May 30, 2023. The ceremony took place at the Binus University Alam Sutera Campus and marked a promising collaboration to advance the detection of Tuberculosis (TB) using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The MoU and MoA were signed by Prof. Dr. Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, Ph.D., the Vice Rector of Research and Technology Transfer at BINUS University, and Dr. dr. Imelda Liana Ritonga, S.Kp., M.Pd., MN, the Rector of Universitas Imelda Medan. The presence of distinguished academics and medical professionals showcased the commitment of both institutions to drive innovation in the healthcare sector.

The collaboration between Binus University, Universitas Imelda Medan, and RSU Imelda Pekerja Indonesia revolves around leveraging AI technologies for Tuberculosis detection. This partnership aims to develop an AI-based application that can accurately recognize images of mycobacteria, the causative agent of TB, and create a comprehensive database for sputum samples.

The event concluded with a sense of anticipation and excitement for the journey ahead.
