About ICEZ
The International Conference on Eco-Friendly and Zero Waste (ICEZ) is an annual academic conference hosted by BINUS University @Bandung through its Research Interest Group of Small Medium Enterprises – Entrepreneurship and Innovation (RIG SMEEI).
History and Milestones
ICEZ has been held consecutively since 2024, establishing itself as a premier international forum for sustainability discourse. The conference series includes:
| Edition | Year | Theme |
|---|---|---|
| ICEZ 2024 | 1st | Promoting Eco Friendly and Zero Waste in Holistic Business Process of SMEs and Entrepreneurial Startup |
| ICEZ 2025 | 2nd | Promoting Eco Friendly and Zero Waste in AI Era and Digital Business Environment |
| ICEZ 2026 | 3rd | Reframing Sustainability: Are We Truly Ready for Green Future? |
Background and Rationale
ICEZ was initiated by BINUS University to actively respond to critical environmental challenges faced by Indonesian and global communities. The conference emerged from the recognition that deteriorating environmental conditions require collective responsibility—not solely placed on end-users, but shared across producers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers.
As sustainability becomes a global agenda, its implementation often remains fragmented, symbolic, or inconsistent across sectors. While “eco-friendly” practices are increasingly adopted, a fundamental question persists:
Are we truly ready—individually, organizationally, and systemically—to transition toward a sustainable future?
This guiding question reflects the core motivation behind ICEZ: to move beyond normative discussions by encouraging critical reflection, conceptual reframing, and evidence-based insights into sustainability practices across disciplines.
Conference Objectives
ICEZ aims to:
-
To critically examine the concept of eco-friendliness beyond surface-level adoption
