Dr. Nanthakumar Loganathan is an Associate Professor at Azman Hashim International Business School, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). His holding PhD. On Development Economics and his current research interests mainly focus on Applied Time Series Econometrics related with Development Economics, Tourism Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics. He has published numbers of scholarly journal articles and appointed as invited reviewer for numbers scholarly journals worldwide.

Keynote Title:
Trade and Economic Sustainability of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on ASEAN Maritime Route Countries with China

Abstract:
Since to date, hundreds of millions have been invested in multiple Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) related projects in the maritime route countries. This study examines how the BRI is evolving in response to the lessons and challenges experienced so far among the ASEAN countries involves and what this could mean for the global economy, from environmental degradation and climate change to regional economic development and trade connectivity between China and BRI countries worldwide. This study ensures the development of the BRI effectiveness model and the structural transformation of economic complexity with bilateral trade space theories indicating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To enhance the awareness concerning about the BRI and SDG issues, this study also introduce several fundamental environments, bilateral trade and socioeconomic policies and suitable suggestions which rely on alternative instruments that may give benefit to the pivotal issue to be tackled comprehensively for BRI maritime route countries in the ASEAN region.
