NVIDIA DLI Ambassador Workshop, Mulawarman University

In December 12th, 2017, NVIDIA – BINUS AI R&D Center held a full-day Deep Learning Institute (DLI) Ambassador Workshop in collaboration with Mulawarman University. This workshop was held to enhance the knowledge and skill of Deep Learning for academics and student in East Borneo, Indonesia. This workshop is opened by the speech from Dr. Nataniel Dengen, M.Si., Dean of Computer Science and Information Technology Faculty, Mulawarman University. Next, Dr. Bens Pardamean, Head of AI R&D Center, presents several in-progress works in AI R&D Center.

The first session of this workshop was brought by Tjeng Wawan Cenggoro, S.Kom, M.TI, with presentation about the history and working behavior of Deep Learning. Afterwards, the attendees took a self-paced lab in Image Classification with DIGITS. This lab guided the attendees how to create Deep Learning model for image classification using DIGITS, a deep learning development system from NVIDIA.

In the next session, the attendees tried a hands-on in Object Detection with DIGITS. This hands-on enhanced the skills of attendees in using DIGITS for object detection problem. Lastly, the attendees have another hands-on for Deep Learning model development using TensorRT, a deployment library built by NVIDIA. This workshop was then closed by speech from Addy Suyatno Hadisuwito, M.Kom, Head of AI Research Laboratory, Mulawarman University, in which he suggested to utilize this workshop to ignite a broader collaboration in AI research.
