AIRDC Explores Research Collaboration Opportunities in Poncokusumo Orchards, Malang
On 1 October 2026, the BINUS AI Research and Development Center (AIRDC) team, consisting of Prof. Dr. Bens Pardamean, Ir. Kuncahyo Setyo Nugroho, M.Kom., and Alyssa Imani, S.Kom., S.Mat., conducted a site visit to apple and orange orchards in Poncokusumo District, Malang, to review the ongoing research initiative led by M. Aldiki Febriantono, S.T., M.T., on the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) technology for apple orchard irrigation systems. The visit was also accompanied by Hanustavira Guru Acarya, S.Kom., a member of Mr. Febriantono’s research team, as well as Research and Publication Staff of BINUS @Malang.
During the visit, the BINUS team met the local village head, who subsequently guided the team to his nearby orange orchard in the surrounding area. The teams discussed potential applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support agricultural practices, including crop quality assessment, fertilization, and irrigation systems. The visit also explored opportunities to expand the ongoing IoT research toward integrated, data-driven agricultural solutions, as well as the potential implementation of AI to support more sustainable and technology-enabled farming practices.
