SmartSawitGrading: Lightweight AI-Based Palm Oil Ripeness Grading

This project is a collaborative research between BDSRC and PT Toba Agro Manunggal to develop SmartSawitGrading, a lightweight artificial intelligence-based application for automatic palm oil ripeness grading on smartphones. The application utilizes computer vision and lightweight deep learning techniques to analyze images of oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFBs) and classify their ripeness levels directly on mobile devices. The research focuses on developing an efficient and practical solution that can operate with limited computational resources while maintaining reliable grading performance. The developed application is expected to support faster and more consistent palm oil quality assessment, improve field-level decision-making, and provide an accessible technology solution for oil palm plantation operations.
