NVIDIA DLI Workshop with HIMTI BINUS @Kemanggisan

On 24th August 2024, an AI research collaboration between AIRDC and Himpunan Mahasiswa TI (HIMTI) BINUS Kemanggisan is organized as an NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) Ambassador workshop. The workshop is held in BINUS Kemanggisan, and the theme is Gen Z AI: Building Real Time Applications with NVIDIA GPU. The trainer of this workshop is Nicholas Dominic, a senior data scientist from Lintasarta and an adjunct researcher at BDSRC|AIRDC who has been officially certified as a deep learning instructor from NVIDIA. He is assisted by Matthew Martianus Henry, an AI research assistant from BDSRC|AIRDC. The workshop successfully attracts 35 students from BINUS Kemanggisan and BINUS Alam Sutera, mostly from Data Science or Computer Science majors. Some of the students are even first graders who have never had any programming experience.

The workshop is divided into three sessions. In the first session, the students are introduced to the basic mechanics of AI, starting from deep learning architecture, backpropagation, activation functions, etc. The workshop continues to the second session, where the students are given hands-on experience in programming convolutional neural networks (CNN) using TensorFlow. The last session focused on AI applications, where the students experienced hands-on programming on object detection, one of CNN’s applications. In this last session, the students are also introduced to AIRDC, its AI research, and the GPU computational power situated at BINUS University, which AIRDC possesses. The event went well, and HIMTI BINUS Kemanggisan is glad to have held this NVIDIA DLI workshop with AIRDC.
