Visitation from Badan Informasi Geospasial

July 5th 2019 was an exciting day for us.  On this day, we welcomed the BIG (Badan Informasi Geospasial) to our research centre. BIG is a Government institution that aims to develop and update the Indonesia geospasial information.  BIG team came to BINUS AI Center to discuss numerous potential research collaborations between BIG and BINUS AI R&D Center.

A potential collaboration emerged from the discussion between us. Currently, BIG is developing a system that can differentiate building in LIDAR (light detection and ranging) images. However, they have not received the result they are hoping for, yet. To achieve the expected result, BIG and us will collaborate to develop a Neural Network system that able to differentiate buildings in LIDAR images. In the future, not only the building but other features such as roads, railroads, field be differentiated by the system.
