During the 44th binus anniversary, Dr. Nesti Sianipar, S.P., M.Si, presented innovations that have been developed at the food biotechnology research center and the biotechnology department. Several of these include:

1) Rodent tuber (Typhonium flagelliforme) developed through tissue culture has high potential as a cancer prevention product. This superior rodent tuber extract demonstrated a high content of anticancer compounds and has received Plant Variety Protection (PVP) rights from the Ministry of Agriculture and a utility model for the Tyherbs functional beverage formula from the Directorate General of Intellectual Rights and Property, Republic of Indonesia;

2) Torpedo Banana, which is a derivative of Horn Banana through tissue culture, has high productivity of approximately 1 kg per fruit and a unique fruit flavor;

3) Eco-Enzyme By-products: Eco-enzyme produced from organic waste fermentation has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Eco-enzyme derivative products, such as hand soap and natural liquid detergent, can be an alternative as environmentally friendly products.

We expect these innovations to be an impactful solution for Indonesia.
