FBRC Participates in the International Conference of Industry-Academia Initiatives in Biotechnology and Chemistry, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah
TANGERANG – The University of Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah held a virtual conference on Industry-Academia Initiatives in Biotechnology and Chemistry (iCIABC2023) over the weekend of 27-28 November 2023, entitled “The 2nd International Conference on Industry-Academia Initiatives in Biotechnology and Chemistry”. In iCIABC2023, the theme is Advances in Sequencing Technologies for Sustainable Industrial Biotechnology and Chemistry. The iCIABC2023 conference explores the latest biotechnological and chemistry advances. The event opened with remarks from the Director of iCIABC 2023, Ts. Dr. Hajar Fauzan bin Ahmad and Dean of IPS UMP, Prof. Ts. Dr. Che Ku Mohammad Faizal bin Che Ku Yahya. Several keynote speakers, Prof. Ts. Dr. Gaanty Pragas A/L Maniam (Chemistry Professor, UMP), Prof. Dr. Chee-Onn Leong (CEO at AGTC Genomics), and Prof. Dr. Hermin Pancasakti Kusumaningrum (Biotechnology Professor, UNDIP).
This activity was attended by 79 participants from various universities and the papers were grouped based on the sub-themes divided. FBRC submitted three texts presented at the conference, including:
1) Cytotoxicity Effect of Rodent Tuber (Typhonium flagelliforme) Mutant Pekalongan Accession Against MCF-7 & MCF-10A Cell Lines (Natural product)
2) Histopathological Observations of Acute Toxicity Effects of Rodent Tuber (Typhonium flagelliforme) Extract on Mice (Natural product).
3) Anticancer Activity and mRNA Expression of Rodent Tuber Mutant (Typhonium flagelliforme) Extract Against Breast Cancer Cell Line MCF-7 In Vitro (Agricultural Technology)
The paper presentation was presented by Dr. Nesti F. Sianipar, SP., M.Si, and Khoirunnisa Assidqi, S.Pi., M.Si. The three papers submitted to the conference were the results of research carried out by FBRC previously. Test animals were used to determine its effectiveness in inhibiting cancer cells. Furthermore, rodent tuber extract was demonstrated to have anticancer properties against breast cancer cells. Participants and parties involved in iCIABC2023 will be able to learn about the most up-to-date research through this conference. To adapt and disseminate both the latest information on producing natural products and agricultural technology used in biotechnology and chemistry.
