Bekasi, September 9, 2026 — The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation (MONEV) of Plant Variety Protection (PVT) for two keladi tikus (Typhonium flagelliforme) varieties, Tipobio and Typonesiaraga, developed by the Food Biotechnology Research Center (FBRC) at BINUS University. The activity took place at the BINUS University Bekasi Campus greenhouse as part of the monitoring of plant varieties that have been granted Plant Variety Protection.

The Ministry of Agriculture delegation consisted of Lia Amalia, S.P., M.P., Rudi Anggarama, S.P., Oloan Manalu, S.H., M.H., and Biondi Hasbi Handoki. The delegation was welcomed by the FBRC research team and Dr. Noerlina, S.Kom., M.M., CDMS, Deputy Campus Director of BINUS University Bekasi Campus.

During the visit, the delegation conducted direct observations of the Tipobio and Typonesiaraga plants cultivated in the greenhouse. The monitoring and evaluation covered the plants’ growth conditions, maintenance practices, and availability as part of the evaluation of the protected varieties.

Prof. Dr. Nesti F. Sianipar, Head of the Food Biotechnology Research Center, is the Plant Variety Protection (PVT) rights holder of Tipobio and Typonesiaraga. Both varieties represent FBRC’s research and development efforts in plant biotechnology and the utilization of Indonesia’s genetic resources.

The MONEV activity reflects BINUS University’s commitment to maintaining and safeguarding its research outputs, particularly in the development of innovative plant varieties.
