The Center for Plant Variety Protection and Agricultural Licensing (PVTPP) held an Evaluation and Discussion Meeting on Collaboration in Plant Variety Protection at the Ismunadji Hall, Center for Socio-Economic and Agricultural Policy, Bogor, West Java.

The event brought together PVTPP’s strategic partners, including the Indonesian Association for Plant Breeding (PERIPI), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB University), and Binus University, to strengthen cooperation and review the progress of joint initiatives in plant variety protection, registration, and release.

Prof. Dr. Nesti Sianipar, representing Binus University, was specially invited to the session to share insights on strengthening academic collaboration and innovation in the protection of plant genetic resources. In her participation, Prof. Nesti highlighted the importance of integrating interdisciplinary research and digital technologies to support transparent and efficient variety protection systems in Indonesia.

The discussion focused on evaluating the implementation of existing cooperation agreements, identifying challenges in policy coordination, and exploring future opportunities to enhance synergy among universities, professional associations, and the PVTPP.

Representatives from PERIPI and IPB University also shared their institutional perspectives on research development, regulatory alignment, and the role of academia in fostering national agricultural innovation.

Through this meeting, PVTPP reaffirmed its commitment to building strong partnerships with higher education institutions and professional organizations as part of its mission to strengthen plant variety protection and agricultural licensing in Indonesia.

The event concluded with a shared understanding that collaboration between government, academia, and industry is key to ensuring sustainable agricultural development and safeguarding Indonesia’s plant genetic diversity.
