FBRC Binus Initiates Collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah in the Field of Science and Technology
PAHANG – Food Biotechnology Research Center (FBRC) of BINUS University visited Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) on 16-17 November 2023. FBRC visited the Faculty of Industrial Science & Technology and the Faculty of Industrial Management. The visitation activity was represented by the Head of the Research Center, Dr. Nesti F. Sianipar, SP., M.Si, and member of the Research Center, Prof. Idris Gautama So, S.E., S.Kom., M.M., Ph.D. UMPSA, represented by Prof. Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research & Innovation, welcomed FBRC Binus to cooperate. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Mohd Hasbi Ab Rahim, as a representative from the Research Management Center (RMC) also provided an overview of UMPSA research. The first day’s agenda started with a visit to the Central Lab and Good Manufacturing Practice Lab. In this lab, UMPSA has several HLC, GC-MS, RT-PCR, and NMR analysis laboratory equipment. The visit continued to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Chemical and Process to discuss plans for research topics to collaborate on. FBRC with UMPSA, represented by Dr. Azmir Arifin, discussed joint research collaboration regarding in vivo testing and purification of potential secondary metabolite compounds.
Furthermore, on the second day, the FBRC team visited the Faculty of Industrial Science & Technology (FIST). Sharing a session with FIST-UMPSA represented by Dr. Aizi Nor Mazila (Dean), Dr. Azizan (Deputy Dean of Research), Dr. Nina Suhaity Azmi, Dr. Noor Suhana, and Dr. Mohd Fadhizil Fasihi, they discussed several new research ideas related to nanotechnology, genome sequencing, biomolecular, and testing active compounds on test animals. Visits were also made to the Bioaromatic Lab and Faculty of Industrial Management guided by Associate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf. The sharing session activity with the Faculty of Industrial Management was also represented by Dr. Mohd Hanafiah (Dean) and Associate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf. They discussed business models to collaborate on after research products were produced. The hope after this visit to UMPSA is that FBRC Binus and UMPSA, especially the related faculties, can cooperate and collaborate, in terms of research, technology, and industrial management of research results.
