2nd AICCON Conference Involving 11 Participating Countries
JAKARTA – The pandemic has not slowed down conference activities. Even in early 2021, the Association of Communication Sciences Colleges (ASPIKOM) held an international conference entitled ASPIKOM Second International Communication Conference (2nd AICCON) on February 8-9, 2021. “We will hold 2nd AICCON through a webinar by inviting five Keynote Speakers (key speakers, red) from five countries, namely the United States, Russia, Nigeria, Canada and Indonesia),” explained Dr. Ulani Yunus, the chairman of the organizing committee in a press statement on Saturday (16 / 1).
Ulani explained that the five Keynote Speakers are Prof. Anne Gregory, Ph.D from the University of Huddersfield, Prof. Svetlana S. Bodrunova, Ph.D from Saint Petersburg State University, Prof. Umaru Pate, Ph.D from Bayero University, Dr. Merlyna Lim, from Carleton University, Sarafa Dauda, Ph.D from the University of Maiduguri and Prof. De Andi M. Faisal Bakti, MA from Syarif Hidayatulloh State Islamic University Jakarta. According to Ulani, 76 papers will be accepted for presentation. Apart from Indonesia, 16 of the research articles came from 10 countries, such as the United States, China, Nigeria, Netherland, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Philippine, Thailand and Malaysia.
“These 76 papers are the results of the committee’s selection with the Scopus journal standards,” she explained. In addition, the 76 scientific articles in English will be presented in the conference. 2nd AICCON also invited participants from 93 study programs from 55 campuses in Jabodetabek where there are around 16,740 Communication Science students currently studying with around 465 lecturers in the program the study. Ulani said, the 2nd AICCON has the theme “Advance of Applied Sciences and Interdisciplinary Research For Sustainable Communication Development”, with five sub-themes: Advancement of Humanity in Multicultural Context, Public Engagement from Social Science Perspective, Applied Science within Advance Technology, Virtual Education and Modern English Literacy and Sustainable Communication Development.
