Monitoring and Evaluation of Fisheries and AI Research Collaboration between BDSRC–AIRDC BINUS and FPIK UNSOED

BDSRC–AIRDC BINUS University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED), held a series of Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) activities for joint research in the fields of Fisheries and Artificial Intelligence (AI) from November 4 to 6, 2025. The series began with two thematic workshops conducted at the Integrated Academic Building. The first workshop, titled AI-Powered Literature Review: Streamlining PRISMA Workflow for Researcher, was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, presented by Ir. Kuncahyo Setyo Nugroho, M.Kom and moderated by Dr.rer.nat. Hamdan Syakuri. The second workshop, Molecular Tools for Fisheries: Designing DNA Microsatellite Primer for Intensive Breeding Programs, was conducted on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, by Rudi Nirwantono, M.Mol.Bio., with Philipus Uli Basa Hutabarat, Ph.D., as moderator. The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean of FPIK UNSOED, T. Junaidi, S.E., M.Pi., and the Director of BDSRC–AIRDC, Prof. Dr. Bens Pardamean. The workshop was attended by 40 participants consisting of students, lecturers, and researchers.

The highlight of the event took place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the FPIK UNSOED Meeting Room through a joint Monev session between the two institutions. Four research topics were evaluated, covering AI-related studies such as Detection of Nile tilapia Morphometry and Vannamei Shrimp Larvae Detection and Counting, as well as fisheries studies such as Phylogenetics and Divergence Time of Bogo Fish in Java Island and Identification of Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Vannamei Shrimp. The discussion focused on evaluating the 2025 research achievements, formulating recommendations and output targets for 2026, and planning sustainability efforts through joint grant proposals and follow-up workshops to strengthen research collaboration and international publications. In addition, the Monev also discussed the plan for establishing the Snakehead Fish (Channa striata) Research Consortium as a strategic initiative to expand research networks and advance aquaculture biotechnology based on Indonesia’s biodiversity.
