Visiting Professor Day 4: Band Gap Engineering and Lesson Learned from Research Experience at Arizona State University

On the fourth day of the Visiting Professor program, BINUS ASO has the honor of hosting a knowledge exchange through a hybrid seminar, with Prof. Dr. Derrick Speaks from Arizona State University (ASU) as the presenter. Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, as BINUS Vice Rector of Research and Technology, opens the seminar online, highlighting BINUS ASO’s potential for collaboration through product design. Prof. Dr. Bens Pardamean, who attends on-site with the BDSRC team, gives an opening remark afterward, citing lessons learned in maintaining a productive research lab reflecting on Prof. Speaks experience in the ASU research lab. Prof. Speaks then reflects on his whole experience in ASU in building his academic career. His sharing is a request from Prof. Dr. Fergyanto E. Gunawan, Dean of the BINUS ASO School of Engineering, in order to boost the morale of BINUS ASO faculty members as they pursue their educational careers. The event then continues with Prof. Speaks seminar on band gap engineering. Many faculty members from Trisakti University and BINUS ASO join the seminar online. Despite joining online, many show their interest during the QnA session. The audience on-site also asks in-depth questions. Dr. Endang Djuana, as Trisakti University Head of Center for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology (CAPTIVATE) also attends the seminar on-site, alongside Dr. Arif Suriadi Budiman as Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor from Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT).
