Atma Jaya Medical Students Visit to BDSRC

On 22nd August 2024, BDSRC welcomed 40 Medical students from Universitas Katolik Atma Jaya in BINUS Anggrek, Kemanggisan. The visit was part of Universitas Katolik Atma Jaya’s Medical Entrepreneurship lectures. During the visit, BDSRC introduced the students to AI applications in the medical sector. Dr. dr. Veronica Maria Sidharta, M. Biomed, the Head of the Histology Department in Universitas Katolik Atma Jaya, also accompanied the student’s visit. From this visit, she expected the students to know more about AI, equipping them with AI basics that would be useful in future medics.

The event started with an introduction of BDSRC, starting from BDSRC history and team members. It continued with the presentation of AI for medical purposes, in which basic machine learning was reviewed. InDRI, an application designed by BDSRC to help Imelda Hospital radiologists was also presented as BDSRC successful story. BDSRC also presented to the students about the utilization of AI for Pap Smear Identification, one of the BDSRC ongoing projects in medical sector. The students showed enthusiasm, with some of them asking in more detail about the Pap Smear Identification project and inquiring further about deep and reinforcement learning. The event ended with a closing from Prof. Dr. Sani Muhamad Isa, S.Si, M.Kom, BINUS Graduate Program Director. He was confident that this visit would eventually result in partnership between BDSRC and Atma Jaya Faculty of Medicine.
