Visiting Professor Program Strengthens Collaboration between BINUS University and Debre Markos University

On Monday, 27 July 2026, BINUS University, through the Bioinformatics and Data Science Research Center (BDSRC), organized a Visiting Professor Welcoming Event and Research Seminar featuring Zewdie Mossie Erunekh, Ph.D., Assistant Professor from Debre Markos University, Ethiopia. Held in a hybrid format, the event brought together participants both onsite at BINUS @Anggrek Campus and online via Zoom. The program commenced with welcoming remarks from Dr. Yiheyes Aregu Yeshanew, Academic Vice President of Debre Markos University, followed by a video message from Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, Vice Rector of Research and Technology Transfer at BINUS University, who highlighted the importance of strengthening international academic collaboration through research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. 

Representing BINUS University, Prof. Dr. Bens Pardamean, Head of the Bioinformatics and Data Science Research Center (BDSRC), officially welcomed Zewdie Mossie Erunekh, Ph.D. and highlighted the ongoing collaboration between BINUS University and Debre Markos University. He expressed his hope that the Visiting Professor program would further strengthen academic partnerships, promote knowledge exchange, and expand collaborative research between researchers from both institutions. 

The event featured a research seminar entitled “Ethiopia: A Land of Origins and Enduring Heritage,” presented by Zewdie Mossie Erunekh, Ph.D., who shared insights into Ethiopia’s cultural heritage, higher education, and research landscape. The program also included a presentation from the Research and Technology Transfer Office (RTTO), delivered by Hilda Farida, S.P., M.Sc., introducing research collaboration opportunities between BINUS University and Debre Markos University. The event was attended by researchers, lecturers, and representatives from partner institutions, including Endang Djuana, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. from Universitas Trisakti, representatives from PT Greencorp Konsultan Indonesia, and Huawei, before concluding with an interactive discussion on future academic and research collaboration between the two universities.
