Community Workshop on the Implementation of the Hitungikan Application for Automated Counting of Snakehead Fish Fingerling
On 14 July 2026, a community empowerment program was successfully held in Darul MuzaniBoarding School, Sampang, Cilacap, featuring the implementation of an AI-based Automated Snakehead Fish Fingerlings Counting Application designed to improve efficiency, simplicity, and accuracy in aquaculture. The program was supported through the BINUS Community Empowerment Grant under the theme “BINUS Cares for the Environment – Appropriate Technology for Sustainable Communities”. The program was attended by Drs. AF. Maftukhin, M.H., the leader of Darul MuzniFoundation; Mr. Mahfudz Aji, S.Pd., the fishpond manager and representative of Darul MuzaniIslamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren Darul Muzani); Mr. Rudi Nirwantono, M.Mol.Bio., Project Team Leader as well as Mr. Edi Purnomo Putra, S.Kom., M.MSI, CDAP, and Miss Nur Sitha Afrilia, S.S., M.S. from BINUS University Campus Semarang.
The activity introduced participants to artificial intelligence technology for automatic snakehead fish fingerlings counting through presentations, mobile application installation, live demonstrations, and hands-on training. The training involved boarding school officers and students (santri) as participants, providing them with practical experience in using the application to support fish farming activities. Through this initiative, BINUS University aims to promote the adoption of AI-driven technologies in community-based aquaculture, empowering local communities with innovative digital solutions while strengthening collaboration between academia and society to advance sustainable fisheries development.
