BDSRC Explores Research Collaboration with BRIN on Horticultural Commodities
On 25 June 2026, BINUS University, represented by the Bioinformatics and Data Science Research Center (BDSRC), visited the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to discuss potential research collaborations on horticultural and food crops. Representing BDSRC, Prof. Dr. Bens Pardamean and Kuncahyo Setyo Nugroho, S.Kom., M.Kom. attended the meeting. The discussion was joined by researchers from BRIN, including Dr. Fransiska Renita Anon Basundari, S.P., M.Sc. and Cicik Oktasari Handayani, S.Si., M.Sc. from the Research Center for Horticulture, as well as Dr. Agus Supriyo, M.S. and Dr. Agus Suprihatin, S.P., M.Sc. from the Research Center for Food Crops. The meeting reflected a shared commitment to strengthening interdisciplinary research through the integration of agricultural expertise and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The discussion focused on developing collaborative research that supports horticultural commodity management, particularly the ongoing research and community development program at Kalurahan Giripeni. Both institutions explored opportunities to integrate horticultural expertise with data science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to advance precision agriculture and generate practical solutions for sustainable farming.
As an initial step, BRIN will develop a comprehensive data dictionary containing key variables related to horticultural crops, while BDSRC will utilize this foundation to further develop digital monitoring systems. The collaboration is expected to evolve toward predictive data-driven solutions that support decision-making, improve crop management, and accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence technologies in horticultural research.
