Advancing Precision Agriculture Research Through SEAT Living Laboratory

On 24 June 2026, BINUS University, represented by the Bioinformatics and Data Science Research Center (BDSRC), visited SEAT (Stiper Edu Agro Tourism) in Ungaran, Central Java, to explore its potential as a living laboratory for agricultural research. Representing BDSRC, Prof. Dr. Bens Pardamean and Kuncahyo Setyo Nugroho, S.Kom., M.Kom. participated in the visit, accompanied by Nur Sitha Afrilia, S.S., M.S. from BINUS @Semarang. During the visit, the team observed the oil palm plantation, rubber plantation, and melon greenhouse. The visit was conducted as part of the research collaboration between BINUS University and INSTIPER, which has previously been formalized through a Research Collaboration Agreement.

The melon greenhouse at SEAT Official is equipped with an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring system that automatically collects environmental and crop data, making it an ideal living laboratory for agricultural research. The greenhouse will serve as a pilot implementation for technologies that are planned to be adopted at Kalurahan Giripeni, supporting the development of precision greenhouse agriculture. Through this collaboration, BINUS University also expects to strengthen the involvement of BINUS @Semarang in conducting field-based research while advancing innovation in smart agriculture, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and data-driven farming technologies.
