Visiting Professor Day 5: High-Level Meeting with Indonesia Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology

This year, the Visiting Professor event culminates with a closed high-level discussion with the Indonesia Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The academic delegations are Prof. Dr. Bens Pardamean as the Head of BDSRC, Prof. Dr. Derrick Speaks as Assistant Teaching Professor from Arizona State University (ASU), Dr. Arief Suriadi Budiman as Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor from Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT), Dr. Zaki Saptari Saldi as Head of Center for Urban Studies and Lecturer of Department of Product Design from Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ), and Dr. Endang Djuana as Head of Center for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology (CAPTIVATE) from Trisakti University, and Ir. Bambang Hendrawan as Director of Politeknik Negeri Batam. Except for Ir. Bambang Hendrawan, who attends via zoom, the delegation has the honor to meet directly with two leaders from the Indonesia Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology: Dr. M. Fauzan Adziman as Director General of Research and Development and Prof. Dr. Yos Sunitiyoso as Director of Downstream Industry and Partnership.

During the meeting, Dr. Arif Suriadi Budiman elaborates on AI advancement in advancing semiconductor research. Dr. M. Fauzan Adziman highlights the ongoing effort to build a resilient semiconductor ecosystem through collaboration, in which a consortium of 16 universities serves as one of the concrete steps. Ir. Bambang Hendrawan afterward presents a talk titled “Building a Resilient Semiconductor Ecosystem: Ecosystem Linkages and the Existing Model at Polibatam” as a complementary effort. The meeting successfully establishes a common understanding in achieving growth in Indonesia semiconductor research, with academic and governmental stakeholders aligned toward strategic, long-term goals.
