Research Collaboration Continuation among BDSRC and Imelda University and Hospital in Medan

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) research collaboration between BDSRC and Imelda University and Hospital in Medan continues. In the preceding collaboration, BDSRC successfully developed Intelligent Diagnosis of Radiology Images (InDRI), an application that helps Imelda Hospital radiologists classify four lung disease types and automatically generate medical reports. The success story has brought both parties to extend the collaboration further. On 21st June 2024, with a new spirit to contribute to fighting tuberculosis (TBC), a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a new memorandum of agreement (MoA) were signed among three parties. This latest collaboration is part of an effort to develop Artificial Intelligence Diagnosis of Tuberculosis (AIDTB), an application designed to detect tuberculosis (TBC) accurately using computer vision models. This new application will reduce the radiologist labor-intensive microscope testing, increasing radiologist work efficiency in Imelda Hospital.

The MoU and MoA were signed by Dr. Nelly, S.Kom., M.M., CSCA, and Dr. dr. Imelda Liana Ritonga, SKP., M.Pd., MN, as Rectors representing BINUS University and Imelda University and Hospital in Medan, respectively. Afterward, the details of the research roadmap were discussed. The discussions mainly revolved around the research impact brought on the community, the challenges occured in the research implementation, and the possibility of research in the bioinformatics area regarding TBC prevention. The event was also attended by Drs. Sutristo as the Director of PT Mega Medica Pharmaceuticals, Prof. Dr. Juneman Abraham, S.Psi., M.Si as BINUS Vice Rector of Research and Technology Transfer, and Prof. Bens Pardamean, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D as the Head of BDSRC.
