Visitation and Discussion on Bioinformatic Research in Singapore

As one of our efforts to strengthen our research networks, BDSRC team, represented by Dr. Bens Pardamean as BDSRC Director, Dr. James Baurley and Stephen McGee as visiting scholars, and Arif Budiarto and Wawan Cenggoro as researchers, paid a 3-days visit to Singapore to held several discussions with our current research partner as well as with new research collaborator.

On the first day, we met with researchers from the School of Life Science and Chemical Technology, Ngee Ann University, to brainstorm some potential collaborations. Previously, they have worked together with BioRealm, our main partner in Bioinformatics, to evolve a customized genotyping array for Parkinson’s disease along with Sciencewerke, a Singapore-based biomedical company. They are eager to have collaborations with BDSRC on the basis of our analysis and computing capabilities, which will be extremely useful for their research.

The following day, we had a discussion with Nikhilesh Desai, Country Manager of Golden Gateway Partners, LLC (GGP). GGP is one of our current international research partners working together in previous research activities, such as the submission of a proposal for bioinformatics research to a number of potential collaborators in Indonesia. Nikhilesh is committed to connecting a number of potential research entities in Singapore to BDSRC in order to establish effective research projects in the field of bioinformatics.
