Collaboration of Integrated Aquaculture 4.0 for Chana Striata
November 18th 2019 was another milestone for Bioinformatics and Data Science Research Center (BDSRC), Bina Nusantara University. The Center, in association with a 2014-established pharmaceutical company, PT. Mega Medica Pharmaceuticals (MMP) co-organized a national-wide sharing session called Research Collaboration of Integrated Aquaculture 4.0 for Chana striata, a well-identified species of Snakehead fish in Indonesia. The session was a follow up post-MoU bilateral signing between BDSRC and MMP, held earlier on 31st October 2019. The head of BDSRC, Dr. Bens Pardamean, in the occasion, emphasized on the need of Helix Quadruple Collaboration within which relevant local government/public authority (The Ministry of Maritime and Fishery), industries (PT. Global Genetika Indonesia, BioRealm-USA), universities (Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Sumatra Utara, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta), and community should work shoulder by shoulder as well as empower each other to address current national issues.
PT MMP and Bina Nusantara University officially signed an agreement to establish the first end-to-end partnership for chana striata which is involves 3 major collaborations on Internet of Things (IoT) for water quality monitoring for fish farming, research on chana striata genetic variation to identify superior breeds that produce high albumin content, and clinical trials of albumin on patients.
