Indonesia Colorectal Cancer Consortium
On Thursday, 2 May 2019, We attend Indonesia Colorectal Cancer Consortium meeting at Mochtar Riady Institute for Nanotechnology, Universitas Pelita Harapan, Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang. This meeting was attended by Doctors and Researcher from Universitas Pelita Harapan, Universitas Hasanudin, Bina Nusantara University, Darmais Hospital, and Genetic Indonesia, with interest related to sporadic colorectal cancer.
In this meeting, we present the result of our latest result in colorectal cancer research. We found a relationship between variants in the SCL22A3, SCG5, GREM1, and STXBP5-AS1 genes and colorectal cancer in the Indonesian population. As this research used a small sample size and with the majority of the sample are from Makasar, we want to improve our study with larger sample size and more diverse population. With further biobanking and international research collaborations, variants specific to colorectal cancer risk in Indonesians can be identified.
