Workshop and Seminar in Collaboration with NVIDIA for Preparing Joint Research Proposals

BINUS UNIVERSITY, as an NVDIA GPU Education Center, has successfully conducted a workshop entitled “Applications of deep learning methods using High Performance Computer” on the 3rd of November 2016, at FX Campus, Bina Nusantara University.

This event was attended by 46 researchers from 12 universities in Indonesia, including BINUS UNIVERSITY, Unika Soegijapranata, Brawijaya University, Diponegoro University, Hasanuddin University, the University of Indonesia, Indonesia Islam University, Atma Jaya Catholic University, Petra Christian University, Satya Wacana Christian University, Sanata Dharma University, and the Bogor Agriculture Institute.

Dr. Ettikan Kandasamy Karuppiah as Director of Developers Ecosystem, APAC South NVIDIA was the main speaker in this workshop. Dr. Ettikan explained GPU technologies from NVIDIA. He also explained the implementation of deep learning in some different areas. Then it was followed by a hands-on session about how to carry out deep learning for data classification using The NVIDIA Deep Learning GPU Training System (DIGITS). Implementation of this application is expected to be useful for researcher to quickly design and monitor quality of the Deep Neural Network (DNN) for various datasets.

In this event all the participants agreed to declare the High Performance Computing Consortium for Indonesia (HPC2ID). This consortium will share computer resources among its members to be used in some HPC-based researches. It was followed by a discussion on research collaborations among the researchers.
